Norwood Road

Nestled on the corner of a bustling crossroads in the heart of Tulse Hill in Lambeth, our transformative residential scheme introduces 43 new apartments intricately arranged around a series of lush landscaped courtyard gardens. Replacing two neglected houses, this redevelopment seizes the opportunity to craft new homes and contribute to the ensemble of public buildings framing the crossroad.
Situated at a pivotal location, the site presented challenges such as traffic noise and pollution, demanding thoughtful consideration. We tackled these issues by carefully selecting materials, refining the building form, and strategically positioning external amenity space to mitigate their impacts positively.
Drawing inspiration from the neighbouring Victorian villas and terraces, the building’s form is artfully broken down into a series of brick bays and recessed balconies, rising majestically to 7 storeys at the corner of the site. The choice of brick tones echoes the diverse historical brick types used locally, while window openings and fenestration reimagine traditional proportions, resulting in a contemporary building firmly rooted within its context.
Internally, our apartments are meticulously designed to maximize natural light, featuring generous open-plan living spaces that seamlessly extend onto balconies, terraces, and private gardens. This thoughtful approach not only reimagines the residential experience but also contributes to the vibrancy and connectivity of the community.
